TWENTYTEN POST-SHOW BUZZ: CRAZY FOR IT

FROM TRIBA SPACE

The Twentyten's Collection Four is a whimsical exploration of the inner-workings of the mind, its hallucinations, and the complexity and endless creativity of irrationality. Baked on a fictional female character and her descent into madness, this season seamlessly fuses dark and playful, vibrancy and gloom, intricacy and delicate simplicity. Collection Four embodies the essence of the young brand: the ability to dip into both the fantastic and the absurd while still creating relaxed, wearable garments

At The Twentyten's presentation in the Starett-Lehigh building, crickets and baby mice were encapsulated in glass vessels next to ebony and steel jewelry designs. Videos made by renowned design firm We Came In Peace, which predominately featured images of women screaming, were projected onto walls and columns throughout the space.

FROM SPARKED:

Presenting their fourth collection at the Goldsmith mannequin showroom in Chelsea’s art gallery district, the abstract forms allows the viewer to bring their own persona to the easy draped shifts and tops paired with slouchy trousers or narrow bottoms. The projected video look-book as you enter the presentation, produced by We Came In Peace, successfully gives life to the team’s concept of this season’s muse descending into madness expressing all of her contradictory emotions wearing a favorite shocking pink dress.

Building on the interdisciplinary trend of designers and artists using multimedia installations to immerse the spectator, many of the newer labels for New York Fashion Week created these still and lifestyle events that go beyond the catwalk.

The Twentyten in Light strokes

WCIP Headquarters is always host to a myriad of creative happenings. This past Fall/Winter 2010 fashion week we opened our airlocks to our kindred alien allies, THE TWENTYTEN to prepare their modelbots before unleashing their collection on the human populace.

Our lovely agent of the pen, SKUMMI, was on site to provide a glimpse behind the rubberized leather curtain with this on-site sketch.

We've added the full gallery of images here.

WWD: Avant Garde is Saleable

Our Favorite dystopian dream designers, THETWENTYTEN, continue to forge their foot-hold in the fashion world. Post, their third presentation, WWD lauds:

"Designers Jeff Dodd, David J. Krause and Nina Zilka pushed their collection toward the avant-garde in everything from a floor-length skirt of unraveled yarn to pyramid helmets made of fur, but it’s their ability to craft salable pieces like sharp, modern jackets and easy, draped dresses that sets them apart."

Fritz Helder and the Phantoms + The Twenty Ten

Descending upon NYC in a gust of glittery beats, runway-ready Canadian electro-glam band, Fritz Helder and the Phantoms have arrived to thrust us into the lion-jaws of March. Premiering a cache of heel breaking, bodice bursting chansons, New Yorkers will become Fritz's lab bunnies; applying his unique brand of aural cosmetics to our hungry ears.  Tonight, they headline Greenpoint's GERMS @ Europa, with special guest host, THETWENTYTEN.

This once in a lifetime combination promises a night of dark grandeur, blissful oblivion, and outer borough borscht. In Lieu of fashion weeks closure, and early evening lubrication, check out one of WCIP's favored tracks.
