The Snoozebox is a pop-up modular hotel currently being used in at British music festivals. It's made of recycled shipping containers and theoretically could set up anywhere in the world.

These hotels are aesthetically-chic and can pop-up in 48 hours at festivals and sporting events, with the added advantage of being right in the heart of the action. Right now, one can only find them in the UK but the capability is there to expand worldwide.

And here’s why. These hotels are decked out shipping containers, with a double bed and single bunk, full bathroom, air-con, flat-screen TV and free wireless (yes, you heard that right) in every room. Granted, the rooms are on the smallish size, but no expense has been spared in the amenities of these tidy, stylish portable hotels.

Emotionally Vague is a survey-based research project that looks for “patterns of feeling."

The study, conducted by a graphic designer, attempts to bring attention to the body's patterns of feeling and innate intelligence in a systematic but playful way.

Surveying hundred upon thousands of people, the study asks how individuals feel ‘Anger’ or feel ‘Sadness’ or feel ‘Love’. The data is then processed, sorted and ultimately visualized via infographic.

"I wanted to question how feeling can be experienced in the body, not simply in mind. I believe that we can use familiar tools to express understanding of experience, and not be restricted to the use of photographic stereotypes.

By gathering concepts of feeling by word, colour and line and creating visual languages for anger, joy, fear, sadness and love - a kind of democratic visual language is created - a backwards-brand."

An simple yet stunning installation opened at Queensland Gallery Of Modern Art in December - The Obliteration Room by Yayoi Kusama.

Comprising of a typical home environment set up and painted uniformly in a glaringly pristine white, it offered a literal blank canvas to all visitors to the exhibition, and in the two weeks that followed every child that turned up got a handful of coloured stickers and was invited to contribute by decorating the room.

A Japanese smartphone app, the Yumemiru, lets you maximize the time you spend every night just sleeping. Yumemiru takes the self-help craze of the nineties to new scientific heights by leveraging the bundle of sensors in your smartphone. The app utilizes microphones to detect when the user is in REM sleep, the point in the night when you begin dreaming and also the moment when you are most susceptible to suggestion. 

The free app has 8 different scenarios to choose from including a walk in the forest, getting rich, flying and for those romantically disposed, a scenario that stimulates dreams of love tailored for both men and women. After selecting the type of dream you want to drift off into the app runs in the background and detects the time passed before you go into REM sleep.

Once you’ve entered REM sleep the soundtrack begins to stimulate your dreams.

BIG♥NYC by BIG  (Bjarke Ingels Group) with FLATCUT and Local Projects conducts the flow of people, air and touch to bring its heart to life. The 10-foot tall glowing sculpture consists of 400 transparent, LED lit, acrylic tubes that form a cube around a suspended red heart. The transparent tubes refract the lights of Times Square, creating a cluster of condensed city lights around the heart. The hovering heart will pulsate faster reflecting the chain of human energy in the heart of Times Square."

Massimals is a set of 1:1 design objects that serve as prototypes to examine how physical form can engage the public realm. These constructs are abstractions of animal forms built in the manner of massing studies produced in an architectural design practice. Like massing models, they are volumetric, devoid of details, and fabricated from one material such as chipboard, polystyrene foam, and foam core. The suggestive forms and their specific arrangement imply docile behavior similar to animals in a petting zoo augmenting the way visitors approach and engage built form.
