PLACEMAKING IN EAST HOLLYWOOD
SERVICES: EVENT DESIGN AND PRODUCTION, STRATEGY, PROGRAMMING
In the summer of 2015, the management of Eastown - a gleaming new complex designed with the modern LA creative professional in mind - came to We Came In Peace seeking a radical new way to establish a thriving, interconnected community of residents.
With a compelling year-long calendar of events and integrated lifestyle content generated by the Mr. Eastown platform, the buzz around Eastown steadily grew. Residents came out in droves for our monthly pool parties - a smartly co-hosted pool screening by independent entertainment outlet IndieWire and cocktail hour hosted by private social networking club, The Ivy.
As the seasons changed elsewhere in the country, LA unwaveringly stayed 75 and sunny. Drawing upon the childhood nostalgia of a true Fall festival, WCIP decided to bring Autumn to the west coast. Our partner, Folk, pioneered the instagram magazine format and in the process became the authority on the new millennial maker community. With a stellar feed of all-American imagery and a curated sense of "living authentic" - Folk brought content and a passionate fan base of creators to Eastown for a week-long celebration of Fall.
We kicked off the week with an influencer dinner crafted by Baco Mercat's chef Josef Centeno, where 40 of LA's influencers tasted the best of Autumn. The week continued with a cocktail class by Silencio Mezcal and a pop-up coffee shop featuring Commissary Coffee.
Capping off the weekend was a pop-up Fall Festival, with a Maker's Fair that put the spotlight on 6 local Angeleno artisans, each with their own booth of made goods for sale. Residents and invited press were treated to custom crafted cocktails by Clyde Mays and live sets by Whiskey Sunday. WCIP transformed the pool deck into a series of cozy outdoor living rooms using local vintage finds and our own collection of furnishings.
