CAFE BUSTELO INSTALLATION | MARFA FILM FESTIVAL

SERVICES: DESIGN + BUILD, ART INSTALLATION, MERCHANDISING, PROGRAMMING, PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT

A desert lounge housed in a turn-of-the-century Masonic Lodge on historic Highland Avenue, The Filling Station was literally the "heart" of the festival. Inspired by Marfa's open, minimal surroundings, art world connections and magical energy, WCIP designed and programmed a playful and laid back coffeeshop. We gave the familiar Cafe Bustelo can new life as grids of planters and a collection of handmade lighting pieces. The Bustelo "heart" was plucked from the brand logo and painted onto the wall at 20 feet wide as a backdrop for the bar, while eclectic furnishings and curated collections of local plants and stones whimsically inhabited the space. By day, guests sipped Bustelo Cools and swapped stories over an intoxicating soundscape of Space-Age Bachelor Pad, Soft-Psych and Latin influences. By night the lodge was buzzing with bands, DJs and VIPs dancing 'til the sun rose over the Chinati Mountains.
